National Bridal Show 2013 Review
This year’s National Bridal Show in Toronto proved to be an incredible weekend! Travel Wedding’s staff were on hand to help brides-to-be choose their dream destination. What did we take away from 2013’s show? Destination weddings are a growing trend! We received tons of requests for Mexico, Dominican and Cuba weddings.
Here are a few more highlights from the weekend:
The latest trend? Bright colours are in! Shiny and flashy ARE back.
Celebrity/expert appearances? Jayne Dayus Hinch, famous wedding planner, wandered throughout the show to answer everyone’s questions. This famous UK wedding guru is world-renowned for her 25+ years of experience creating some of the most stunning weddings. She is also the host of the Canadian reality TV series Wedding SOS.
Must-Sees? Check out our friends over at I-cakes.ca – their cakes are spectacular!
Tips/Tricks/DIY? Take your time – stop at all the booths to find the perfect wedding help! If you didn’t make it to the show do not fret – there are other wedding shows around the corner. Keep visiting Travel Wedding for info on upcoming shows!

The National Bridal Show Is Almost Here!
The National Bridal Show is fast approaching and Travel Wedding is excited for this year’s events! Toronto plays host to over 150 exhibitors, including a bridal fashion show showcasing the latest in wedding couture. Discover the latest in wedding registries, fashion accessories, party favours, floral arrangements, wedding cakes, DJs & entertainment, destination weddings, transportation, and all the things that go into making every wedding unique and special.

Chantale and Alistair’s Jamaica Destination Wedding
A Destination Wedding in Beautiful Montego Bay, Jamaica
One of Handa Travel and TravelWedding.com’s finest achievements in destination weddings, Chantale and Alistair were married in Montego Bay, Jamaica. They arrived on Jan. 1st and stayed 1 week at the Riu Ocho Rios with 56 of their closest friends and relatives.
Chantale: “Al and I can’t thank you enough for all your hard work, support and patience in organizing our Dream Destination Wedding! We had the best day ever! Words cannot express how happy we are with everything! Also, thanks so much for sending a bottle of rum to each guest’s room! Such a generous and thoughtful gesture! Impressive! Everyone was so excited! Lots of stories! Memories will last a lifetime!

Our Dream Wedding – Camille Yusuf
I booked my wedding at Dreams La Romana in Bayahibe Dominican Republic through Handa Travel. I would have never thought I would ever do a “destination wedding”, but with the help of Handa and my Wedding Planner our Dream Wedding became a reality and truly a dream come true. I could not have asked for a more perfect day. It was truly a fairy tale wedding.
I had a group of approx 13 people travelling from Toronto and Handa Travel offered me the cheapest rate and was there with me every step of the way with regards to planning, quotes and special arrangements for my guests. My rep kept me up to date with the bookings and special offers that was offered by the hotel and tour operator. She was always available and replied to my emails and phone calls promptly. And everyone knows dealing with a Bridezilla is not the easiest task in the world. I honestly thought that doing a destination wedding would be a stressful process and take up all of my time, but with the help of Handa Travel and my Wedding Planner at Dreams La Romana, they both made the planning process literally a breeze. Handa took care of all the travel arrangements, hotel transfers and communicated with all my guests so I didn’t have to. It was a big relief especially when I planned my wedding in 4 months!
Once we arrived in Dominican Republic, we had a private bus for all my guests which made the bus ride to the hotel all the more fun as the bus driver and tour guide was super friendly and let us stop along the way to pick up snacks and beverages for the ride. This kicked off the wedding week in a positive vibe. Once we arrived to the hotel we were greeted with champagne which made everyone feel super special. Once my husband and I checked into our room we had a note from our wedding planner with the details of when and where we were to meet to go over the details of the wedding. Everything was so organized. Once we met with our wedding planner we went through all the details of the wedding and she was very thorough. She took care of everything and I literally didn’t have to do anything but show up on the wedding day. When I saw the Garden Gazebo and Seaside Deck where we had our ceremony and reception she truly transformed everything to be more than what I had expected and described to her. From all the little details to the rose petals on the carpeted walkway to the rice that she handed our guests to throw for good luck after we said our vows – which where things that I didn’t even think of but added that extra specialness to make our day that much more memorable…
If I had to do it all over again I wouldn’t change a thing…Handa Travel did an amazing job from beginning to end with their excellent Customer Service, exceptional Attention to Detail and amazing willingness to go the extra mile for their clients…..I am actually already planning my anniversary trip to DR for September 2013 and will definitely be using Handa Travel again.

Travel Wedding’s first convention in Ottawa!
Our team was in Ottawa this passed weekend for the Wedding Palace Bridal Show at the Ottawa Convention Centre! Check out a couple photos from the event. We had a lot of fun, and met a ton of awesome people and couples. Very excited to start planning this years Travel Weddings!
